Registration of Interest

The National Screening Unit, a separate unit of the Ministry of Health is looking to contract with an organisation to develop, organise and deliver national training for cytology laboratories contracted to the National Cervical Screening Programme. A national "independent" training programme with the flexibility to provide training in main centres is the preferred model.

The National Cervical Screening Programme's aim is to reduce the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer among women within New Zealand This is achieved by the detection and treatment of pre-cancerous squamous cell changes.

The initial desired outcome is that all laboratory health professionals involved in cervical cytology have ready access to relevant, affordable, appropriate ongoing training that enables them to maintain and develop their skills. This training will assist the workforce to meet the requirements specified by the National Cervical Screening Programme (NCSP) Operational Policy and Quality Standards.

Registrations of interest are invited from organisations that have experience in the development and implementation of training and education programmes for health professionals.
