Our department at Auckland City Hospital is a major teaching and referral centre and processes a wide range of Gynaecological and Non–Gynaecological samples.
Ideally you will be a NZ registered Medical Laboratory Scientist with more than five years experience in screening cervical smears. We will also consider applications from suitably qualified and experienced registered Technicians.
You must be a team player with a passion for cytology and a burning desire to provide a top quality service.

An opportunity now exists for an experienced Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist to join our Cytology Department. The position is for 40 hours per week Monday to Friday (8am-5pm) and encompasses all aspects and challenges with both gynae and non-gynae cytology.
As a qualified Technician/Scientist, you will be responsible for the primary and secondary screening of gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens. Previous experience in liquid based cytology would be desirable, however full training in liquid based cytology will be given to the successful candidate.
The successful applicant will be highly customer focused, self-motivated, willing to learn, able to work well within a small team and possess good communication skills.
Applicants must be registered (or able to gain registration) with the NZ Medical Laboratory Science Board.

The National Gynae Cytology Training Service is administered by Canterbury Health Laboratories under contract to the Ministry of Health. It provides ongoing training and development to all who prepare and report gynae cytology samples within New Zealand.
Applications are now invited from New Zealand Registered Medical Laboratory Scientists, with significant cytology experience, for the position of Medical Laboratory Scientist within the service.
The Scientist will work in partnership with the Cytopathologist to develop and deliver ongoing programmes to the sector. The successful applicant will be a concurrent practitioner in cytology. Experience in education and IT proficiency would be an advantage. Some travel will also be required.
This is a 0.2FTE position and need not be based in Christchurch.

Medlab Central is a Palmerston North based private laboratory providing services to the hospital and surrounding communities. We have a full time, second in charge position available in our Cytology Department for an experienced, registered Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician.
This position involves screening of gynae and non-gynae specimens, and also includes training- and some management responsibilities.
